Where do you get inspiration from?
I've had quite a few random jobs from being an elf to working with nursery school children. Alot of the time children can inspire you. They have amasing imaginations that we seem to loose as we grow up. It's all about harnessing that ability and allowing your grown self to let it free again.
Where are you most happy?
On a lake, in a canoe, with a notebook. 'Nuff said!
What is your dream?
To finish this book and hopefully get it published.
Any fears?
Heights(big time), flying(big time), lifts(not so much anymore) geesh, why am i allowed out in public?
What type of music do you listen too?
Ah now i am a massive musical fan. I love musical music. Billy Elliot is my favourite followed by Blood Brothers. My poor Zen (i have a thing against ipods) is full of the stuff. No modern stuff :S
What type of books do you read and why?
Ah well, somebody once wrote that if you want to right a book you should know and understand most of the other stuff in the same genere. So i have pretty much digested the whole of the Young Adult Fiction section in my local Waterstones. I'm pretty sure that they are going to get me my own shelf soon that displays the books i haven't read yet (it would be pretty small)
I love them because they have some really inspiring stories and address the issues that alot of Young Adults don't want to read childrens books and at the same time aren't ready for the adult books.
Some of my favourites are: Kevin Brooks (who introduced me to the YAfiction world through Lucas) Robert Muchamore (CHERUB rocks) Sophie Mckenzie, Keren Davies, John Van de Ruit (I LOVE SPUD) Malarie Blackman(probably one of the leading writers of YAFiction) Merlvin Burges (Nicholas Dane is genius) and many others.
Here's a pick of my bookshelf. I would say 98% of it is YAF
